The Arabic word Al-Qour’an literally means Recitation.  Used in the context of Islam, the word Qur'an can thus take the following meaning: "The last message of God to humanity revealed to the prophet Muhammad (1)". This work was during its revelation preached and recited in public, both before Muslims and people who were not of Muslim faith (Jews, Christians, polytheists, atheists, etc.). In addition, the Koran was entirely written during the life of the prophet. Various media were used for this: bone, skin, tissue, etc. It was only after the arrival of the third Caliph 'Uthman (May God accept him) that it was fully compiled.to form a real book. Many of the Prophet's companions memorized it word by word as it had been revealed, and even today thousands of believers know it by heart and are its keepers, Hafiz-al-Qur'an.

 

The Koran is meant to be a universal script, addressed to all of humanity and not to a chosen people or to a tribe. The message he brings is essentially the same as those revealed to the other prophets of Islam. All are based on the phrase: "There is no other deity but God.". This message is of course present in the Koran, as well as many things: rules of life, scientific facts, the history of many prophets, etc. all in an inimitable style.
